There’s a data revolution happening that nobody is talking about. It revolves around synthetic data. Unless you work in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), you may have never heard of it. As social scientists who work on technology, we are surprised, and frankly concerned, by the lack of mainstream debate within both the business and policy community on this subject. Because this rapidly growing form of data raises critical philosophical, ethical, and business questions that will shape our future.
