The Consultant Program
What we look for
We seek exceptional graduates from all disciplines and backgrounds but especially those with a demonstrable strength in social sciences, such as anthropology, ethnography, philosophy, sociology, and political science. To be successful at ReD you must have an analytically sharp and empathic mind and a professional work ethic that inspires and motivates people around you. You will be intellectually curious, have great communication skills, have the humility to admit what you don’t know, and be excited to learn from and teach others.
The Consultant Program is the primary way we hire consultants at ReD. We tend to hire at the entry level and focus on developing and growing our staff from within.
In evaluating applications we specifically look for:
An outstanding academic record, preferably with a master’s degree (or beyond), and/or advanced knowledge in the social sciences or humanities
Relevant experiences that highlight your skills as a problem solver, leader, thinker, innovator, etc.
International experience and language skills
Previous experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
Interest and comfort with emerging technologies, i.e. block chain, smart home and A.I
A strong desire to impact the world of business using tools from the social sciences
Experience with algorithms or big data platforms
About the program
The ReD Consultant Program is the recruiting ground for new consultants and a launching pad for a career at ReD or beyond. The program is for recent graduates with graduate training in the social sciences and the humanities and others with an interest in consulting (people with several years of work experience looking for a career change and graduating seniors). Each new consultant is considered for a full-time position upon successful completion of the program.
A hands-on experience
As part of the ReD team you will learn to apply social science theories and methods to help international companies like Samsung, Adidas, Novo Nordisk, and LEGO to overcome their biggest challenges. You will be an integral part of our small, close-knit project teams, working side by side with and in a similar capacity as other consultants at ReD. You will use your discretion and judgment to advise our clients on how to grow their business, and you may well be asked to travel to other parts of the world for fieldwork and meetings.
Your work will typically include:
Qualitative and quantitative research, primarily ethnographic fieldwork and expert interviews that involve deeply immersing yourself in a phenomenon
Development of insights, concepts, solutions, and recommendations for our clients, and exercising judgment in research and in making recommendations to clients
Planning, presenting, and managing key work streams on projects
Building presentations for ReD clients based on research and analysis
During the Program you will be given the responsibilities of a full team member so that you can gain a true understanding of the daily life of a consultant. You will have the opportunity to show your motivation, dedication, and ability to make an impact as a consultant.
An opportunity for growth
At ReD, you will get an experienced mentor who will help you define your development goals and support your personal development. You will work closely with a team of colleagues who are committed to help you grow and succeed, and you will receive continuous feedback on all assignments so you can track your progress. In addition, you will receive extensive training through participation in a range of internal training programs—from modules on consulting and research basics that are specifically tailored to new hires to firm-wide training initiatives, and periodic talks by renowned external experts.

Unofficial transcripts are accepted, but those selected for an interview may be asked to bring originals. Note, that only applications, which entail cover letter, resume (max 1 page), and transcripts, and which are submitted through our website will be reviewed.
During each cycle we hire three to four consultant trainees for each of our offices. We receive a high number of applications in each round and are only able to conduct a limited number of in-person interviews. If you have been selected for an in-person interview, you should expect to hear from us within four to six weeks after the submission close date.
The Program is a full-time commitment that lasts three months. The exact duration of the program is flexible, and in some cases, is determined by making sure you receive the opportunity to experience a typical ReD project. In most cases, entry-level consultant trainees tend to start in the winter (January/February), summer (June), and fall (September). As with all our consultants, you will be expected to be flexible with regard to travel.
It is our hope that all participants in the Program will subsequently be qualified and motivated to join us as full-time consultants. Consultant trainees will receive a competitive salary for the duration of the Program.
Our New York office is unfortunately unable to sponsor visa applications. We can therefore only accept your application if you are a U.S. citizen or already have a valid U.S. work visa or green card. Our Copenhagen office welcomes all participants regardless of visa status.

The Interview Process
Applicants with an outstanding performance in the first interview round will be invited to a second round of interviewing to meet with one to two ReD Partners.
